First Capital Place Public Consultation
Residents are invited to participate in a public consultation on the kinds of events they would like to see in First Capital Place — that's the area encompassing City Hall, including: Springer Market Square and its courtyards, Confederation Park, Flora MacDonald Confederation Basin and adjacent streets.
A discussion brief on a vision for First Capital Place recognizes this historically significant area as Kingston's natural focal point and remarks on its potential to become an even more bustling hub of activities of various kinds, including: cultural, recreational, ceremonial, governmental, and commercial events. The recent revitalization of Market Square makes public consultation on this subject timely.
Events in this area have ranged from marina events, Music in the Park and the Farmers' Public Market to the Buskers Rendezvous, FebFest, K-Town Triathlon and the Sheep Dog Trials Rodeo.
Public consultations to discuss priorities for the use of First Capital Place were scheduled at Memorial Hall in City Hall on March 4, 5 and 6, 2008.
Until Feb. 29 residents were able to express their opinions in a survey (available online and offline) and through a special phone line.
