About the tree in the Square
November 24, 2015 -
Again this year, visitors to Springer Market Square will be greeted by a Christmas tree. The tree, a lovely 40-foot Colorado Blue Spruce, was donated by Eda Gencarelli from the front yard of her Victoria Street home. Eda and her grandchildren attended the official tree-lighting, which happens each year after Downtown Kingston's Nighttime Santa Claus Parade.
The tree, which was already scheduled for removal, was brought down with care by the elves in the City's public works department. It is decorated with energy-efficient LED lights donated by Utilities Kingston. The tree will remain in the Square to be enjoyed by residents, visitors and skaters throughout the holiday season.
Plan to kick-off your holiday season by the tree at the City's Snow Much Fun event – a free family-friendly festival from 5 to 9 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 11 in Springer Market Square. Enjoy live music, storytelling with the Mayor, kids' crafts and games, a Carol Trolley, the holiday market and skating with costumed characters (weather-permitting).
