Annual Sheep Dog Trials Festival - Aug 9 to 11

Buy tickets now: pay only $10 a person by buying your day passes by Aug. 8 at On Aug. 9, tickets will be $15 per person online and at the gate during the event. Kids ages 12 and under are free!

The Kingston Sheep Dog Trials Festival returns to Grass Creek Park from Friday, Aug. 9 to Sunday, Aug. 11 with tons of family and pet-friendly fun! The yearly festival has made the Festivals and Events Ontario's Top 100 list 11 years straight, so you definitely won't want to miss it

"Dog lovers – and sheep lovers – this festival is for you. Come see border collies herd sheep in timed trials and take in our many great festival attractions at beautiful Grass Creek Park on the shores of the St. Lawrence," says Jenny Cruz, assistant supervisor of special events. "Plan to enjoy this unique rural, summer festival with family and friends."

Schedule of events

The sheep dog trials run daily from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Festival attractions run throughout the weekend and include a wide variety of activities and demonstrations, including:

  • Dockdogs Worldwide;
  • Wolf Creek carvings;
  • Woof Jocks Canine All-Stars Agility;
  • Dog Lovers Days Canadian Canine Lure Course and doggie play zone;
  • Kingston Police K9 demos and engagement trailer;
  • Kingston Police Mounted Unit;
  • Durham Farm mobile agricultural exhibit;
  • Spinning and weaving demos;
  • Sheep to Shawl competition;
  • Shawl auction;
  • Blacksmith demos;
  • Face-painting
  • Vendors Market Place
  • Local food vendors
  • And so much more!

If you plan to bring your dog along, please be sure to keep him/her on a leash while roaming the grounds. Don't forget your sunscreen and refillable water bottle for the Utilities Kingston water buggy!

Free shuttle and parking

Grass Creek Park is located at 2991 Highway 2. A free shuttle bus will run from the Toys R Us parking lot, the Kingston Memorial Centre and the Marriott Hotel at Kings Crossing. Shuttles are dog-friendly, as long as they are kept on a leash. There will be limited parking at Grass Creek Park.


Accessible parking, drop-off areas, portable washrooms, seating areas, assistive hearing devices and mat-paths will be on-site throughout the event. Contact Emily Hatchette at with any concerns about accessibility.


Grass Creek Beach will be open by admission only from Aug. 9 to 11. The dog park will close to the public from Aug. 3 to 12. The boat launch will close Aug. 7 to 12.
