Artillery Park Pool closed for the weekend
November 10, 2017 -
Earlier this week, KFL&A Public Health was at Artillery Park Aquatic Centre to conduct a routine test of the pool water. During the testing, a bacteria was identified that has required the City to close the pool for the weekend. This bacteria is a direct result of a pool fouling.
City pools are operated according to Provincial regulations for public swimming pools to ensure the safety of all users.
Pool foulings are not uncommon. And following each pool fouling the City hyper-chlorinates the pool. It takes 13 hours to circulate the chlorine through the filtration system.
As a result of today's discovery, staff will repeat this process twice over the weekend and conduct a deep cleaning of the facility.
KFL&A Public Health will repeat their tests on Monday.
