null Buildings in Friendship Park to be demolished next week
June 14, 2013 -
Demolition of two City buildings in Friendship Park, 23 Carlisle St., will start next week.
The demolition is aimed at rejuvenating the park by adding to its green space and expanding its street frontage so that it is more open and inviting to residents. The area where the buildings stood will be graded and planted with grass seed.
"Open public street frontage greatly improves the quality of space and safety of a park. The removal of the buildings on Carlisle Street will affect a welcome transformation of Friendship Park," says Neal Unsworth, Manager, Parks Development.
The park will remain open.
The buildings will be prepared for demolition starting on Tuesday. This includes the proper abatement of designated substances, disconnecting utilities, and removing structures and landscaping.
