Celebrate $50 million upgrade to Point Pleasant Water Treatment Plant

Where: Point Pleasant Water Treatment Plant, 80 Sunny Acres Rd.
Who: Jim Keech, President and CEO of Utilities Kingston and special guests: Mayor Bryan Paterson; Gerard Hunt, CAO of the City of Kingston; Utilities Kingston staff; contractors North American Construction Ltd., J.L. Richards & Associates Ltd. and CH2M Hill Inc.; and invited residents.
What: Ribbon-cutting and facility tour to celebrate completion of $50 million in upgrades that have significantly increased the capacity of Point Pleasant Water Treatment Plant.
This event marks the completion of the $50 million upgrades to the Point Pleasant Water Treatment Plant that have increased the plant's capacity from 45 million litres per day to 80 million litres per day and include:
- New filters, high lift pumping station and chlorination facility for increased plant capacity
- New instrumentation and controls, which improve our ability to monitor water quality
- Process improvements for more efficient operation of the facility
- Additional on-site storage and an enhanced maintenance facility
This upgrade to community infrastructure supports Kingston's future growth and economic development.
