City and Frontenac County celebrate 1st birthday of EarlyON
September 6, 2019 -
The City of Kingston and County of Frontenac will mark the 1st birthday of the EarlyON Child and Family Centre programs at their urban and rural sites on Monday, Sept. 9.
"It's been a great year and we want to mark the success of EarlyON's rural and urban programs and take the opportunity to share it with City and County mayors and councillors and Stephen Lecce, the Minister of Education who has been invited to tour some of our sites," says Laura Austin, childcare & early years services supervisor.
The EarlyON programs are funded by the Ministry of Education and are delivered by the Boys & Girls Club of Kingston, Kingston Community Health Centres and Rural Frontenac Community Services. Programs are provided at 16 locations in Kingston and eight locations in Frontenac County and Francophone programs are provided in four locations in Kingston.
EarlyON offers free, drop-in programs for parents and caregivers with children from birth to 6 years of age. Participants can expect to find opportunities for sensory play, creative art, music and movement, nature and other activities. EarlyON offers participants opportunities to meet people and receive parenting information from Registered Early Childhood Educators. Indigenous programming, through the Mohawks of the Bay of Quinte, is offered at a selected number of EarlyON sites.
