City calls for nominations for 2014 municipal election

Do you live to serve?  The City is now seeking nominations for those willing to stand for municipal election on October 27, 2014.

Candidates are invited to register and submit their nomination and the Clerk's Department in City Hall. Nominations will be accepted until 2 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 12.

See www.CityofKingston.ca/city-hall/elections as this includes a map of the City's new electoral district boundaries, nominations forms and processes.  Nominations packages are also available for pick-up at the Clerk's Office at City Hall, 216 Ontario St.

Below is a listing of those offices up for election in 2014.

Kingston City Council:

Mayor (one to be elected at large)

Councillors (one for each of the 12 districts – please note that the boundaries have changed)

  • District 1 - Countryside
  • District 2 - Loyalist-Cataraqui
  • District 3 - Collins-Bayridge
  • District 4 - Lakeside
  • District 5 - Portsmouth
  • District 6 - Trillium
  • District 7 - Kingscourt-Rideau
  • District 8 - Meadowbrook-Strathcona
  • District 9 - Williamsville
  • District 10 - Sydenham
  • District 11 - King's Town
  • District 12 - Pittsburgh

School Board Trustees:

Five English Language Public School Board Trustees – Limestone District School Board. One Trustee for each of the following areas:

  • Countryside, Pittsburgh, and Frontenac Islands
  • Loyalist-Cataraqui, Collins-Bayridge, and Lakeside
  • Portsmouth, Trillium, and Meadowbrook-Strathcona
  • Williamsville and Sydenham
  • Kingscourt-Rideau and King's Town

English Separate - Algonquin & Lakeshore Catholic District School Board (four trustees) Elected at Large

French Public - le Conseil des écoles publiques de l'Est de l'Ontario (one trustee)
