City extends validity of pet tags and supports pet food drive

November 27, 2013 -

City-issued 2013 pet tags will remain valid until March 31, 2014. Normally, pet tags need to be renewed by December 31 each year for the following year, but the tag period has been changed as part of the Responsible Pet Ownership Program.

The Program will also introduce a new structure for pet licensing and regulation to encourage and reward residents who register their animals for committing to responsibly caring for the pets they love. Renewal notices for 2014 pet tags will be sent to those with City-registered pets at the end of February 2014.

Pet Food Drive

To promote and celebrate the coming Responsible Pet Ownership Program, the City is collecting pet food donations for the Kingston Humane Society's Hungry Bowl Pet Food Drive in the lobbies of City Hall, 216 Ontario St.; the British Whig Building, 310 King St. E.; and 1211 John Counter Blvd. The pet food drive starts today and will run until Friday, Dec. 6.
