City issues Requests for Information for 9 North St.

The City has issued a Request for Information (RFI) seeking expressions of interest to purchase 9 North St. with the objective to stabilize, restore and repurpose the existing heritage building. This former Imperial Oil building is located the base of North Street, behind Rideaucrest Home and adjacent to Doug Fluhrer Park.
"We want developers who can see the exciting potential in this property. The City has development-related plans in motion for the nearby North Block, Doug Fluhrer Park and the former Davis Tannery Lands. Now is the time to get in on developing the 9 North Street site," says Peter Huigenbos, Manager, Real Estate & Land Development. He notes that 9 North St. is strategically located a 10-minute walk from downtown Kingston and within the defined area of the City's Community Improvement Plan (CIP) for Brownfields, meaning the successful proponent will be eligible to apply for financial assistance to recover eligible environmental remediation costs.
The RFI issued late yesterday on Biddingo, asks interested parties to provide submissions containing:
- Experience completing similar projects
- Financial capacity and stability
- Proposed restoration and use
- Engaged partnership with Limestone District School Board Building Construction/Renovation Intern Programs
