null City of Kingston closes recreation facilities

March 16, 2020 -

Update: City recreation facilities will remain closed until further notice due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Effective Tuesday, March 17 to Sunday, April 5, the City of Kingston will close all recreation facilities, and suspend programming and facility bookings at the following locations:

  • Artillery Park Aquatic Centre, 382 Bagot St.,
  • Cataraqui Community Centre, 1030 Sunnyside Rd.,
  • Centre 70, 100 Days Rd.,
  • INVISTA Centre, 1350 Gardiners Rd.,
  • Memorial Centre, 303 York St.,
  • Rideau Heights Community Centre, 85 MacCauley St.

During this period of closure, staff will perform maintenance and a deep-cleaning of facilities. If the closure needs to be extended, details will be communicated on the City’s website and social media.

Program and booking refunds

We understand the impact of this difficult decision on program participants and patrons of our facilities. Program and facility bookings will be refunded, including, but not limited to:

  • Program registrations
  • Facility bookings at arenas and community centres

Review and adjustment of fitness memberships will be undertaken when we re-open. Further communication will be provided directly to those impacted by these closures and by the subsequent facility rental and program cancellations.

As we are making this important announcement, we appreciate your patience and understanding as we work through the process of responding to the volume of inquiries we’re receiving. Inquiries can be emailed to recreation@cityofkingston.ca.
