City of Kingston seeking local history enthusiasts to guide City Hall tours

March 21, 2019 -

The City of Kingston is seeking residents who are passionate about local history to volunteer to serve as City Hall tour guides for the 2019 tour season.

"If you love the city's culture and heritage and enjoy interacting with the public, we encourage you to apply to become a City Hall tour guide," says Jennifer Campbell, manager of cultural heritage. "As a tour guide, you will have the opportunity to share the histories behind the artifacts, portraits and architecture within this working National Historic Site."

The City of Kingston strongly encourages those candidates who are multilingual in English and French or Chinese to apply.

Full training will be provided to all new tour guides. Tour guides volunteer from May to October with flexible weekday shifts.

All interested in being a City Hall tour guide are asked to complete an application. Applications are available at the reception desk in the Heritage Resource Centre (HRC) at City Hall or by contacting jlcampbell@cityofkingston.ca.

Completed applications can be submitted in person in c/o: Jennifer Campbell, to the HRC reception desk in City Hall or via email to jlcampbell@cityofkingston.ca.

Interested candidates are invited to attend the Tour Guide Annual General Meeting on April 16 to learn more about being a City Hall tour guide. This information session will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. in Memorial Hall at City Hall.

Visit www.CityofKingston.ca/CityHallTours for more information on the tours and the history of Kingston's City Hall.
