City offers a variety of March Break activities

In search of activities to explore during March Break?  The City is offering these camps, daily swims, skates and shinny to keep families active.

Below is a schedule of activities to help residents plan their week.

Register for the camps at www.CityofKingston.ca/ecity or in person at: Beechgrove Complex Recreation Centre, 51 Heakes Lane. Extended Supervision is available for both camps at $6 a day (7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.).  See www.CityofKingston.ca/recreation for costs associated with drop-in activities.

PA Day Camp

The City is offering Games Galore PA Day Camp on Friday, March 7 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.  For $31, your child can enjoy board and video games, sports, crafts and a swim.

March Break Camp

Action-packed day camp running from March 10 to 14 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. combining daily crafts, sports and theme days. The cost is $31 a day, per child.  On Friday, March 14, the camp takes a trip to the Boiler Room climbing gym (for an additional $12.50 per child).

Public Skating

  • Friday, March 7 at the INVISTA Centre, 1350 Gardiners Rd., from 12:30 p.m. to 2:20 p.m.
  • Friday, March 7 at Centre 70, 100 Days Rd. from 7 p.m. to 8:45 p.m.
  • Saturday, March 8 at the INVISTA Centre, from 2 p.m. to 3:45 p.m.
  • Sunday, March 9 at the Memorial Centre, 303 York St., from 12 p.m. to 1:45 p.m.
  • Monday, March 10 at the INVISTA Centre, from 6:30 p.m. to 7:20 p.m.
  • Tuesday, March 11 at the INVISTA Centre, from 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.
  • Tuesday, March 11 at Centre 70, from 4 p.m. to 4:50 p.m.
  • Wednesday, March 12 at the Memorial Centre, 303 York St. from 4 p.m. to 5:45 p.m.
  • Thursday, March 13 at Centre 70, from 4 p.m. to 4:50 p.m.
  • Friday, March 14 at Centre 70, from 7 p.m. to 8:45 p.m.
  • Saturday, March 15 at the INVISTA Centre, from 2 p.m. to 3:45 p.m.
  • Sunday, March 16 at the Memorial Centre, from 12 p.m. to 1:45 p.m.

Supervised Youth Shinny Hockey

Full hockey equipment required.

  • Monday, March 10 at the INVISTA Centre, 1350 Gardiners Rd: ages 7 to 9, from 12:30 p.m. to 1:20 p.m., and ages 10 to12 from 1:30 p.m. to 2:20 p.m.
  • Tuesday, March 11 at the INVISTA Centre: ages 7 to 9, from 12:30 p.m. to 1:20 p.m. and ages 10 to 12, from 1:30 p.m. to 2:20 p.m.
  • Wednesday, March 12 at the Memorial Centre, 303 York St: ages 7 to 9 from 1 p.m. to 1:50 p.m. and ages 10 to 12 from 2 p.m. to 2:50 p.m.
  • Thursday, March 13 at the INVISTA Centre: ages 7 to 9, from 12:30 p.m. to 1:20 p.m., and ages 10 to 12, from 1:30 p.m. to 1:50 p.m.
  • Friday, March 14 at the INVISTA Centre ages: 7 to 9, from 12 p.m. to 12:50 p.m. and ages 10 to12, from 2 p.m. to 2:50 p.m.

Parent & Tot Skating/Shinny Hockey

(split the ice)

March 10 to 14 at the INVISTA Centre, from 10:30 a.m. to 11:50 a.m.

Tots must wear a helmet with screen and we recommend wearing hockey equipment.  Adults must wear a helmet when playing shinny.  Please bring your own rubber puck.  No hard pucks or strollers permitted on the ice.

Parent & Tot Skating

(no shinny hockey)

Sundays, March 9 and 16 at the INVISTA Centre, from 11 a.m. to 11:50 a.m.

Drop-in to the INVISTA Fitness and Wellness Centre

March 10 to 14 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the INVISTA Fitness and Wellness Centre is an active zone for 7 to 15 year olds who want to get moving and have fun – try the recumbent bikes, Wii stations and PS3. Youths 10 to 15 can check out the weight circuit after a brief orientation. Don't forget

Grade 9 students: use your ActivPass to get in the Fitness Centre free.

Note: Youth ages 7 to 9 require on-site supervision by a legal guardian.

Get in a Swim at Beechgrove

Beechgrove Complex Recreation Centre, 51 Heakes Lane

  • March 8, Leisure Swim 2 to 4 p.m., Adult and Family 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
  • March 9, Leisure Swim 2 to 3 p.m., Adult and Family 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
  • March 10, Parent and Tot 9:45 to 10:15 a.m., Leisure Swim 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. and 6 to 7:30 p.m.   
  • March 11, Parent and Tot 10 to 11 a.m., Leisure Swim 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. and 6 to 7:30 p.m., Adult and Family 7:35 to 8:30 p.m.
  • March 12, Parent and Tot 9:45 to 10:15 a.m., Leisure Swim 1:30 to 3:30 p.m., Adult and Family 6 to 7:30 p.m.
  • March 13, Parent and Tot 10 to 11 a.m., Leisure Swim 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. and 6 to 7:30 p.m,. Adult and Family 7:35 to 8:30 p.m.
  • March 14, Parent and Tot 9:45 to 10:15 a.m., Leisure Swim 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.       
  • March 15, Leisure Swim 2 to 4 p.m., Adult and Family 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
  • March 16, Leisure Swim 2 to 3 p.m., Adult and Family 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
