City Offers FREE Activities for National Youth Week

The City along with its community partners will host a variety of events and programs aimed at young people aged 13-24 for National Youth Week, May 1 to 7.   (Please note: Youth under 15 attending fitness classes, aquafit and/or fitness room should be accompanied by someone 16 or older.)

A number of FREE drop-in programs will be available, including at:

The INVISTA Centre at 1350 Gardiners Rd.

  • Fitness Centre access – Youth must take a free orientation sessions(5 p.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, April 26 and 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday) to take advantage of free access to the Fitness Centre from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday, May 1 and Friday, May 3.
  • Fitness Classes – Zumba, 5 p.m. to 5:45 p.m., on Thursday, May 2; Body Sculpt, 11 a.m. to 11:455 a.m.  and Youth Zumba , 2 p.m. to 2:45 both on Saturday, May 4; Cycle Fit, 5 p.m. to 5:45 p.m., on Monday, May 6; and Zumba, 5 p.m. to 5:45 p.m.,  on Tuesday, May 6.
  • Skating – 2:30 p.m. to 4:15 p.m., on Sunday, May 5 and 7 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 7.

The Beechgrove Complex Recreation Centre at 51 Heakes Ln.

  • Land Fitness – 5:10 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday May 2 and Tuesday, May 7; and Zumba 2 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. on Saturday, May 4.
  • Aqua Fit – 7:35 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 1 and Monday, May 7.
  • Length-Swims – 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., on Wednesday, May 1 and 7:35 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 6.
  • Games in the gym – Basketball, 3 p.m. to 4 p.m., and Dodgeball, 4 p.m. to 5 p.m., on Wednesday, May 1; Dodgeball, 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., and Basketball, 4 p.m. to p.m., on Friday, May 3.

The Wally Elmer Youth Centre at 52 MacCauley St.

  • Games room – PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii U systems, pool table and foosball Tuesday, April 30 to Thursday, May 2 from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. and 3 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on Friday, May 3 (teens only after 6 p.m.).
  • Indoor Skate Boarding, 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Tuesday, April 30 to Friday, May 3.
  • Job Connect workshop with KEYS Employment Service, 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 2.
  • Sports and Games, 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., on Wednesday, May 1 and Friday, May 3.
  • Zumba, 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday, May 3.
  • Bike Tune Up Sessions with Yellow Bike Action, 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., on Wednesday, May 1 and Thursday, May 2
  • Aesthetics clinic, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., on Wednesday, May 1.
  • Movie Night, 7 p.m .to 9 p.m., on Friday, May 3.
