City seeks Election Compliance Audit Committee members
July 22, 2014 -
Have a background in accounting, auditing or law and an interest in serving your community? The City is seeking qualified applicants for the Kingston Election Compliance Audit Committee.
"Serving on the Election Compliance Audit Committee is a great way for individuals with accounting and auditing experience to give back to their community. In accordance with the Municipal Elections Act, the Committee plays an important function in ensuring that the guiding principles of the Act are maintained," says Kevin Arjoon, Deputy City Clerk and Assistant Returning Officer.
Under the Municipal Elections Act, the City must have this Committee in place to consider all applications for a compliance audit of a candidate's election finances. Any eligible elector who believes, on reasonable grounds, that a candidate has contravened the finance provisions of the Act may apply to this Committee to have them audited.
