null City seeks information on spill at King and Brock Streets
June 27, 2013 -
The City is asking for the public's help gathering information on a spill that took place on King Street near Brock Street this morning between 7 a.m. and 8 a.m. The spill is suspected to be some kind of vehicle fluid.
"Spills like this can pose a safety risk to motorists and pedestrians as well the natural environment. If you spill, you have a responsibility to see that the spill is reported to the proper authorities and cleaned up. We need to know about significant spills of fuels, paint or chemicals in public areas right away, especially those that have the potential to enter storm sewers and other sensitive receptors," says Brodie Richmond, Manager of Environmental Projects.
The City responds to spill incidents and will undertake a clean-up, but also has the right to seek cost recovery from responsible parties and lay charges.
Anyone with information about this morning's spill can call 613-546-4291, ext. 1368 or ESI@cityofkingston.ca.
