City seeks nominees for 2017 Celebrating Accessibility Awards

Know a person or organization making Kingston more accessible? The City and the municipal accessibility advisory committee are accepting nominations for the Celebrating Accessibility Awards.

This year, the awards will be given out these categories: education, employment, recreation, customer service, built environment, volunteer, youth and other.

"We want to emphasize the many different ways people, businesses and organizations are making efforts to improve accessibility across our community," says Julie Salter-Keane, community projects manager. "The Celebrating Accessibility Awards recognize those going above and beyond legislated requirements to make really positive impacts in the lives of Kingstonians."

Nominations are due by 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 1. The awards will be given out at a Thursday, Nov. 30 ceremony at City Hall.

The Celebrating Accessibility Awards recognize a person, group or organization that has made or is making a significant contribution towards improving access for persons with disabilities in Kingston.
