City seeks nominees for 2018 Celebrating Accessibility Awards

September 10, 2018 -

Know a person or organization making Kingston more accessible for all residents?  The City and the municipal accessibility advisory committee (MAAC) are now accepting nominations for the 2018 Celebrating Accessibility Awards.

Nominations in these categories will be accepted through Oct. 10: education, employment, recreation, customer service, built environment, volunteer, youth and other.

"Kingston belongs to all of us – people of all ages and abilities should feel welcome to access and enjoy our city. This year, we are hoping for an increase of nominations in our youth category to better recognize young people who have considered and addressed accessibility," says Julie Salter-Keane, community projects manager. "The Celebrating Accessibility Awards recognize those who go above and beyond legislated requirements to make really positive impacts in the lives of Kingstonians."

Nominations are due by 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 10. The awards will be presented on Thursday, Dec. 6 at a ceremony in City Hall.

The Celebrating Accessibility Awards was established in 2011 to recognize members of our community who help to make Kingston more accessible for everyone.
