City seeks workers for 2018 municipal election

August 15, 2018 -

Interested in working for the 2018 municipal election? The Elections Office is now accepting employment applications for site supervisors, deputy returning officers, machine operators and greeters/demonstrators to work at its voting places.

The City is seeking election workers to work on Advance Voting Day, Saturday, Oct. 13 and on Voting Day, Monday, Oct. 22. Successful applicants will be required to attend a mandatory training session, which will be scheduled in late September to early October.

"Please consider applying to work at a voting place this election. We need people with strong computer and customer service skills," says Janet Jaynes, assistant returning officer. "If you are applying for more than one position, you will need to fill out a separate application for each position."

Applications, detailed job descriptions and a full list of qualifications can be found via the "Employment" button at www.CityofKingston.ca/Elections. The deadline is Friday, Sept. 7.

The positions offer the following rates of pay (the training session is included in this fee):

  • Site supervisors – $249 per day
  • Deputy returning officer – $225 per day
  • Machine operators – $200 per day
  • Greeters/demonstrators – $200 per day
