null City to give Kingston’s Snow Angels their wings

November 27, 2013 -

Snow Angels are people who notice when neighbours may need help keeping a driveway or a stretch of sidewalk clear of snow and ice and decide to do it for them.

"Anyone who has arrived home after a heavy snowfall to find a freshly shoveled sidewalk or driveway, knows how deeply appreciated a Snow Angel can be. This program offers a friendly way to show that appreciation," says Troy Stubinski, Operations Manager.

Calgary was the first city to initiate a Snow Angels program. Kingston's program also follows in the warm footsteps of Edmonton, Calgary and Saskatoon.

How to be a Snow Angel:

Can you think of someone who could use a helping hand? Anyone can be a Snow Angel. Removing snow and ice for a neighbour is a wonderful way to show you care – and show neighbours that we live in a community that cares.

How to show your Snow Angel your appreciation is as deep as the snow:

Go to and sign-up to get a free toque bearing the winged Snow Angel insignia and a letter of appreciation sent to you to present to your kind neighbour – this will also enter him or her in a monthly draw to receive free tickets to a Kingston Frontenacs' game (first draw takes place January 2, 2014).

Repeat Snow Angels will be entered in the monthly draw as many times as they are nominated by appreciative neighbours (they'll keep getting letters, too, but each Angel gets just one winged toque).

You may also nominate your Snow Angel by sending your own contact information to or calling 613-546-0000. The program will run over the winter until the end of February.
