null Cold Creek County to headline free Rockin' the Square concert August 3
July 5, 2018 -
Kick off the civic holiday weekend with an evening of free country music in Springer Market Square! Presented by the City of Kingston, the season's second Rockin' the Square concert begins at 8 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 3 with local musician Abby Stewart followed by headline performers Cold Creek County. The radio partner for this concert is Country 93.5.
Cold Creek County's signature multi-part vocal harmonies are bigger and more up front nowadays. The feel-good party songs from the band's 2015 debut, Till The Wheels Come Off, have given way to a warm and more reflective look at the people and places around them for their latest Homemade EP. The band was recently awarded Group of The Year at the Country Music Association of Ontario Awards and their current single, Money, featuring Mitchell Tenpenny, is quickly becoming a fan favourite.
Cold Creek County have a new singer, with Dalmeny, Saskatchewan's Ches Anthony taking over centre-stage duties. Cold Creek County is now a six-piece band with banjo/vocalist Jordan Honsinger brought on full time after touring with the band for the past 18 months. Anthony should fit right in with a band that also includes Josh Lester (guitar, vocals), Trevor MacLeod (lead guitar, vocals) and Justin Lester (bass, vocals).
Abby Stewart has accomplished so much including sharing the stage for a duet with Hunter Hayes, Dan + Shay, Dean Brody, Dallas Smith or Aaron Pritchet, opening for Hayes on his Canadian tour dates and completing a set at some of Canada's biggest music festivals. Stewart's versatility and passion for music shines through whether she's belting out one of her radio-friendly originals, a Taylor Swift or Band Perry lyric or turning back the clock to perform a Dolly Parton, Anne Murray or Buck Owens classic.
Rockin' the Square is a free annual City of Kingston program that has previously featured artists such as Arkells, The Trews, Big Sugar, Sarah Harmer, 54-40, Platinum Blonde with Spoons, Wintersleep, David Wilcox, Classic Albums Live and Hawksley Workman along with local performers The Glorious Sons, Miss Emily, Kasador, Tom Savage, PS I Love You, Greg Ball and Rueben deGroot.
