Deadlines for 2016-17 Heritage Fund applications fast approaching
September 7, 2016 -
The City of Kingston Heritage Fund (CKHF) grant program is underway again this year and application deadlines are fast approaching.
The Kingston Association of Museums, Art Galleries and Historic Sites (KAM) is accepting applications to the City of Kingston Heritage Fund on behalf of the City.
"There is almost $200,000 available between the operating and project grant categories," says KAM's managing director Caroline Petznick.
Operating grant funds help provide a stable base of funding for Kingston's cultural heritage organizations to enhance their sustainability.
"In addition to full operating grants for larger cultural heritage institutions, an Investment Operating Grant is available for smaller organizations. Even a small operating grant will help some of our cultural heritage sites to keep their doors open," explains Petznick.
Telling Kingston's stories is a fundamental focus for the City's Culture Plan, and the Integrated Cultural Tourism and Cultural Heritage Strategy. Grants for projects are available for cultural heritage organizations and community organizations to provide cultural heritage program activities.
"Kingston is perhaps best known for the richness of its history and we are excited the Heritage Fund provides a way to invest in its growth to benefit residents and visitors alike," says Colin Wiginton, the City of Kingston's cultural director.
All grant proposals go through an independent, adjudicated, peer review process.
There are staggered deadlines for 2016-17 Heritage Fund project applications. CKHF Operating grant applications are due to KAM by Wednesday, Sept. 14 while CKHF Project grant applications are due to KAM by Wednesday, Sept. 21.
