null Essential workers offered emergency childcare
April 3, 2020 -
The City has worked with licensed childcare providers to offer emergency childcare to eligible workers identified as essential on this list issued by the Province of Ontario. This care, for children up to 12 years-old, is being offered at no cost to eligible families and is funded by the Province.
Amongst those included on the list are health care workers, police officer, firefighters and those working in correctional facilities.
Are you an essential worker in need of emergency child care?
Please visit the Essential Workers Childcare page for details on eligibility, health and safety measures and locations – and to apply online.
In support of physical distancing, only five children will be permitted in one room of any of the licensed childcare centres. The safest option for families is to have children remain at home, if possible. These centres are meant for emergency use only. Spaces are limited.
If the level of demand exceeds the City’s ability to provide care, the City will prioritize childcare space for front-line health care workers and first responders.
