Final Population, Housing and Employment Forecast Study now available
April 15, 2019 -
The City of Kingston has posted the final recommended Population, Housing and Employment Forecast Study.
This final version of the study – which forecasts Kingston's growth – will be presented to the planning committee on April 18, 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. in Council Chambers at City Hall. Members of the public are invited to attend and leave their comments. If approved, it will be brought to council at its May 7 meeting.
"These detailed forecasts are intended to help community and City decision makers plan for the short-, mid- and long-term. They will be used for everything from infrastructure planning to service delivery," says Andrea Furniss, senior planner. The study benefitted from resident and stakeholder input, including a couple of rounds of public consultations.
The forecasts, prepared for the City by Watson and Associates Economists Ltd., show how the City of Kingston and Kingston Census Metropolitan Area (C.M.A) is expected to grow through 2046.
An update to the Population, Housing and Employment Forecast Study is conducted every five years to ensure decision-makers are working from the latest information. The last update was conducted in 2013.
