Focus groups to discuss how to promote awareness of City’s public engagement

January 22, 2019 –

How can the City of Kingston build awareness of its approach to public engagement?  Residents are invited to discuss this question at two upcoming focus groups.

"The Public Engagement Framework was instrumental to ensuring a consistent approach to public engagement. We want to continue to build awareness of how to get involved and these focus groups are about coming up with additional ways to familiarize residents with the City's approach to engagement," says Debbi Miller, manager, communications and public engagement.

The public engagement awareness focus groups will be held:

  • 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 4 at the INVISTA Centre, 1350 Gardiners Rd.
  • 3 to 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 13 at Portsmouth Olympic Harbour, 53 Yonge St.

Those interested in participating should email Miller at damiller@cityofkingston.ca and indicate which focus group time they would prefer.

The focus groups will consider how best to build awareness of the elements of public engagement in a way that encourages more people to take an interest and participate in engagement opportunities.

The City's Public Engagement Framework has been in place since October 2017 and the City has had more than 80 in-person engagements and more than 40 online surveys since completing it.
