Gary Oosterhof has been elected the new councillor for District 1 – Countryside in yesterday's by-election. Oosterhof received 598 votes.

Many voters in the by-election made use of the online voting option:

  • 54 per cent voted online
  • 46 per cent voted in-person.

The number of electors in District 1 – Countryside who voted by Internet increased by almost 20 per cent over 2014.

Oosterhof  will take his council seat for the first time at the June 6 meeting of city council.
