From April 3 to May 3, eligible residents of Kingston and Frontenac County seeking affordable, permanent housing can apply for a forgivable loan of up to $15,000 to put towards the down-payment of a home.
The Home Ownership Program – delivered by the City of Kingston and also available in the County of Frontenac – assists low-to-moderate-income renter households to purchase affordable homes by providing down payment assistance in the form of a forgivable loan. In 2017, 10 households were supported by the program.
"This is just one of the programs designed to assist households in Kingston and Frontenac County acquire affordable, permanent housing and supports the City's vision of prioritizing affordable housing in our communities," says Sheldon Laidman, director of housing and social services.
Funding is awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. Eligibility criteria, program guidelines and application forms are available at www.CityofKingston.ca/Housing.
