2013 KEDCO Board Recruitment
The City of Kingston, on behalf of the Kingston Economic Development Corporation (KEDCO) Board of Directors, is accepting applications from individuals who are interested in contributing their time and expertise to fill openings due to the routine expiration of terms of current directors. Board directors are expected to actively participate in bi-monthly board meetings as well as committee and special meetings scheduled as required throughout the year. Lengths of appointments are for one, two or three year terms.
KEDCO works collaboratively with the City of Kingston, as well as local and regional partner, to achieve prosperity by developing and promoting economic advantages to sustain and grow the economy of Kingston. Activities of primary interest include, but are not limited to: fostering local investment, job creation, assessment of growth and community prosperity through the support of strategic economic activities in the industrial, commercial, institutional, technology and tourism sectors and such other complementary purposes not inconsistent with these objectives.
The KEDCO Board of Directors is represented by a diverse group of individuals, who bring their respective experiences, interest and ideas together to shape and support the Corporation's strategic and policy direction. The KEDCO Board of Directors is a forward-thinking governance body which provides progressive leadership management to support the organization in the attraction of new business, the growth and retention of existing business and tourism opportunities.
Interested applicants will preferably have a post-secondary education or relevant life experience, an understanding of current business issues and previous board experience. A background in one or more of the following sectors is desirable but not exclusive to: Food Manufacturing; Information and Communications Technology (ICT); or Healthcare. Qualifications under the Corporations Act require that Directors be 18 years of age or older; and not be an undischarged bankrupt.
