Interactive map for new electoral districts launched
June 24, 2014 -
The City's online Elections section now offers an interactive searchable map of the new electoral districts that will be used in the upcoming Municipal Election on October 27, 2014.
"The new electoral districts will be used in the upcoming election. The Clerk's Department has partnered with the GIS Department to create an electoral district locator that will help residents to identify their new district," says Kevin Arjoon, Deputy City Clerk. The Elections section can be reached at www.CityofKingston.ca/elections
The electoral district boundaries have been revised to reflect the growth that has occurred in the City of Kingston since amalgamation in 1998. In addition to some boundary changes, the composition of two districts has changed significantly, and they have been renamed:
- District 7, previously known as Cataraqui, has been renamed Kingscourt-Rideau.
- District 8, previously known as Kingscourt-Strathcona, has been renamed Meadowbrook-Strathcona.
The boundaries will be used in the 2014 Municipal Election and will come into effect on December 1, 2014. The current electoral district boundaries remain in effect until then. The Electoral District Map locator may be found at www.CityofKingston.ca/elections – just click on the image of the map to read more about the changes.
