K-Rock Centre Hosts A Family New Year's Eve Event
December 10, 2012
K-Town Countdown features free music, wagon rides and skating
Bring your family down to the FREE indoor and outdoor New Year's Eve festivities at the K-Rock Centre, 1 The Tragically Hip Way.
Celebrations start at 5 p.m. and end with a 9 p.m. fireworks display from Point Frederick best viewed from the Wolfe Island Ferry dock or Confederation Park.
Dress warmly for wagon rides and the fireworks outside where volunteers will be handing out hot chocolate in exchange for donations to the City's charity, P.R.O. Kids - Positive Recreational Opportunities for Kids.
Inside, you can warm up and enjoy the live entertainment for all ages, public skating, and the kids' activity area with face-painting, crafts and more. New this year: you can take a ride on the NASCAR Simulator with a donation to the Canadian Tire Jumpstart fund. Back this year by popular demand: DanceHeads - perform in a music video with your friends (no talent required!).
Last month's Canadian Geographic says: "Move over Disneyland - if you have kids, the happiest place on Earth on New Year's Eve might just be Kingston, Ont.!"
Here's the line-up of the evening's indoor entertainment, being hosted by "Father Time" himself, Roger James, who will also entertain between sets:
- 5 p.m. - Frontenac Community Concert Band
- 5:30 p.m. - Abby Stewart & Friends
- 6:15 p.m. - Mystic Drumz, World Music Dance Safari
- 7 p.m. - Rob Carnegie
- 8 p.m. - Fraser Melvin Blues Band
Parking is FREE at municipal surface lots starting at 4:30 p.m. Or plan to get there by bus: www.CityofKingston.ca/tripplanner.
