null KFR responds to roof incident
April 4, 2018 -
Kingston Fire and Rescue confirms that today at approximately 4:26 p.m. a portion of the roof blew off a 3-storey apartment building located at 385 Division Street.
Emergency Services currently remain on scene after evacuating 80 people to interim shelter with Kingston Transit buses. There were no injuries as a result of the incident.
City building services, in consultation with a structural engineer, deemed the building unsafe due to the instability of some exterior brick.
As of 9 p.m. Kingston Transit will be transporting several tenants, and their pets, in need of overnight accommodations.
The City of Kingston has an emergency plan and recommends residents prepare a 72 hour emergency kit. Kingston Fire and Rescue thanks all agencies that responded today.
