Kingston Fire & Rescue invites you to a car wash in support of the United Way

September 25, 2019 -

Could your car use a cleaning? Stop by the Kingston Fire & Rescue car wash and BBQ in support of the United Way on Friday, Sept. 27, from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Woodbine Firehall (Station #7) to show it some TLC!

"The United Way KFL&A supports thousands of people in our local community by helping them when they need it most, and Kingston Fire & Rescue is proud to do our small part to help." says Tom Meers, Platoon Chief.

The United Way is the official charity supported by the City of Kingston and, this year, City staff have set a goal to fundraise $100,000. "This car wash and BBQ is a great way to have some fun while supporting a great cause," says Scarlet Eyles, Chair of the United Way Fundraising Committee for the City.

As part of this community event, you can bring your vehicle to the firehall where it will be washed by firefighters. "Since it's a PA day, we're encouraging parents and guardians to bring little ones for a fun day," says Meers. "They can meet firefighters and Sparky, enjoy a hotdog, and take a tour of a firetruck."

The car wash and BBQ are by donation, with proceeds going to support the United Way KFL&A.

With support from donors, the United Way invests in 64 community programs that support local residents, helping them when they need it the most. In 2018, United Way local agencies helped 53,323 members of our community through 42 different partner agencies. Learn more about the United Way serving KFL&A.
