Kingston's second on-demand accessible taxi unveiled

Photographers and journalists are invited to attend the unveiling of Kingston's second on-demand accessible taxi

WHEN: 1 p.m. on Friday, February 21

WHERE: In front of City Hall, 216 Ontario St., at the taxi stand

WHO: Councillor Sandy Berg, Kingston Area Taxi Commission Chairman John Pyke, Kingston Area Taxi Commission Inspector Dave Kennedy, Loyalist Township Deputy Mayor Ric Bresee, City of Kingston Manager of Social Policy and Strategic Community Development Cheryl Hitchen and taxi owner Suraj Kumar.

WHAT: Unveiling of the second on-demand accessible taxi, which is supported with funding from the City of Kingston and Loyalist Township. In September, Kingston City Council committed $60,000 in forgivable loans for three accessible taxis. The second on-demand accessible taxi to go into operation is a Toyota van owned by Suraj Kumar and operated under the Modern Taxi banner.
