Kingston Transit and Kingston Access Services to offer new transfer program

The City of Kingston and Kingston Access Services have been working towards making transit more accessible in the City of Kingston. To that end, we are pleased to announce that, effective April 1, 2017, Kingston Access Services will be introducing a new, low-income monthly pass and will be implementing a transfer program permitting Kingston Access Bus passengers to continue their trip using Kingston Transit buses.
Kingston Transit and Kingston Access Services wish to thank Ms. Louise Bark, a disability rights advocate, for providing feedback in respect of her experiences with transit in the City of Kingston and for providing thoughtful and meaningful comments as to how transit in the city of Kingston can be improved.
In particular, we thank Ms. Bark for bringing forward her suggestion that a low-income monthly pass be made available to users of Kingston Access Services and that passengers be able to transfer between Kingston Access Services and Kingston Transit. This feedback was helpful to the City of Kingston and Kingston Access Bus, and enabled both parties to work with Ms. Bark to improve not only her experience with transit in the city of Kingston, but also to make improvements to the transit system that will benefit many of its passengers.
Kingston Access Services, Kingston Transit and Ms. Bark are all pleased that passengers living with disabilities will soon be able to benefit from these improvements.
