Kingston welcomes back fireworks for Victoria Day weekend

This Monday May 19 is the Victoria Day holiday and marks the return of a fireworks display at Lake Ontario Park. To celebrate, a full day of family activities are planned leading up to the fireworks at approximately 9:00 p.m.
"For many Kingstonians fireworks at Lake Ontario Park are a fond memory," said Mayor Mark Gerretsen. "It's great to see this tradition restored at the beautifully revitalized park during Victoria Day weekend with programming and live entertainment for the whole family to enjoy throughout the day."
All day activities for the family include; access to the park's splash pad, jumping castles and inflatable sports centre, as well as face painting and balloon twisting. The Kingston Sport and Social Club will be hosting free beach volleyball games from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Live entertainment will run from 1:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., featuring a variety of great artists with something for everyone in the family to enjoy. The full lineup is listed below;
- 1:30 p.m. – Glen Caradus, The Paddling Puppeteer
- 2 p.m. – Andie Forgie, kids entertainment
- 3 p.m. – Kobbler Jay, family entertainment/ juggling/ stilt-walking
- 4 p.m. – Abby Stewart, country/ pop
- 5 p.m. – Goldwing, folk/ alternative
- 6 p.m. – Trevor Walsh, rock/ celtic
- 7 p.m. – The Stares, sounds of the 70s/80's
- 8 p.m. – Marc Ekins Trio, new country/ celtic
The Victoria Day weekend will create some schedule changes to city services and municipal office hours. This includes Kingston Transit, which will run on a Sunday schedule on Monday.
