Mayor Mark Gerretsen is calling for nominations for the 2013 Mayor's Awards for Youth Volunteerism and the 2013 First Capital Distinguished Citizen/Honourable Achievement Awards.

These awards, now in their 15th year, seek to honour exemplary individuals who have made a difference in our community through volunteerism.

The Mayor's Award for Youth Volunteerism recognizes individuals up to 24 years old, while the First Capital Distinguished Citizen/Honourable Achievement Award is open to applicants of all ages.

"It gives me great pleasure to recognize these individuals who have continued to demonstrate passion for our community and are helping to make Kingston a better place to call home," says Mayor Mark Gerretsen.

Nominations are due March 30, 2013 by 4:30 p.m. Applications are available at www.CityofKingston.ca and in person at City Hall reception. For more information contact Elizabeth Cashman at ecashman@cityofkingston.ca or 613-546-4291, ext. 1355.

Awards recipients will be celebrated at the Civic Ceremony at the City's Canada Day celebrations on July 1.
