null Mayor Attends 2013 OGRA/ROMA Conference

Today Mayor Mark Gerretsen will attend the 2013 Rural Ontario Municipal Association and the Ontario Good Roads Association (OGRA/ROMA) combined conference in Toronto.

"As a large part of the Kingston community is rural, the OGRA/ROMA conference is a great chance for me to hear and share information with other municipalities on rural aspects of our communities," said Mark Gerretsen, Mayor of Kingston. "Over the two days I'll be meeting with government representatives as well as the opposition parties."

The ROMA/OGRA combined conference is one of the largest municipal conferences in Canada attracting 1,500 delegates and 2,300 participants from across Ontario.
This year's program focuses on:

  • Asset Management
  • Social Service Delivery
  • Arbitration
  • Succession Planning
  • Excess Soil Management
  • Media Relations
  • Active Transportation
  • Rural Economic Development
  • Renewable Energy

Speakers include: Premier Kathleen Wynne; PC Leader Tim Hudak; and Official Leader of the opposition and NDP Leader Andrea Horwath. Other government representatives include: the Hon. Bob Charielli, Minister of Energy, and the Hon. Glen Murray, Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure.

The ROMA Chair is Bill Vrebosch (Town of East Ferris) and the OGRA President Alan Korell, Managing Director of Engineering - City of North Bay. Delegations will be held from Sunday, February 24 to Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at the Fairmont Royal York Hotel.
