Mayor encourages residents to thank volunteers during National Volunteer Week

April 9, 2014 -

This week, April 6 to 12, is National Volunteer Week. Volunteers play a significant role in our community, donating time and energy across a broad spectrum of events and organizations.

The contributions of volunteers truly enhance the quality of life we all enjoy. I encourage Kingstonians who have volunteers in their organizations or in their lives to take the opportunity during National Volunteer Week to say thank you for all they do!

I am always amazed and humbled by the efforts of volunteers across our community. This year the City of Kingston introduced a new program to allow neighbours to recognize people who voluntarily clear snow and ice from their sidewalks and driveways. The response was wonderful, with over 600 Snow Angels recognized.

There are many great ways you can get involved in our community, I encourage you to get involved and volunteer your time.

Thank you to all community volunteers!
