null Mayor invites Kingstonians to offer well wishes to Gord Downie

May 24, 2016 -

Kingstonians wanting to offer their best wishes to Gord Downie, lead singer of The Tragically Hip, following this morning's announcement of his terminal brain cancer diagnosis can do so in a book of best wishes located at the Mayor's Office in City Hall.

"Kingstonians have a special connection to The Tragically Hip not only because the band was formed here and they choose to make Kingston their home but because the members have done so much to give back to our community," says Mayor Bryan Paterson. "We want Mr. Downie and his family to know we are thinking of them at this difficult time."

The book of well wishes will be set up outside of the Mayor's Office located on the second floor of Kingston City Hall, 216 Ontario St., starting May 25. The book will be available for Kingstonians to record their messages until June 10.
