null Mayor Receives Queen's Diamond Jubilee Medal
February 5, 2013 -
Mayor Mark Gerretsen has been selected to receive the Queen's Jubilee Medal. Mayor Gerretsen was recommended to receive the medal by the Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM).
The Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM) selected Mayor Gerretsen in recognition of his leadership and ongoing efforts to make the Kingston community a better place to live.
"As Mayor I have been involved in presenting a number of Diamond Jubilee medals to residents of our community for their contributions, but I did not expect to receive one myself," said Mayor Mark Gerretsen. "I am proud to be among the Canadians, nationally and locally, selected to receive this medal."
The Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal honours significant contributions and achievements by Canadians. This commemorative medal was created to mark the 2012 celebrations of the 60th anniversary of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II's accession to the Throne.
Throughout the year, 60,000 Canadians will receive the medal in recognition of their contributions and distinguished service to their fellow citizens and their communities.
