Message From the Mayor: Enjoy the long weekend

July 31, 2014 -

Great Weekend of Summer Events in the City

This coming Monday, August 4, is a Civic Holiday and I want to wish all Kingstonians a very enjoyable and safe long weekend with family and friends. The weekend offers another great line-up of summer events in the City.

Rockin the Square

Kick off the Civic Holiday weekend with a free performance by the Arkells in Springer Market Square on Friday, August 1 at 8 p.m. Presented by the City of Kingston, the Rockin the Square concert series is a free show for all ages. For more information on Rockin the Square visit www.cityofkingston.ca

Music in the Park

Music in the Park is a free summer concert series at locations across the City. This weekend don't miss the Friday evening concert in Spring Market Square Courtyard from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. and the Saturday noon hour concert in Confederation Park from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. For more details and the full schedule visit www.downtownkingston.ca/

Princess Street Promenade

Downtown Kingston will be transformed as shops, restaurants, and community organizations open their doors and move out onto the sidewalks and streets. Saturday, August 2 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., marks the fifth Annual Princess Street Promenade, a one day street festival. Kingston Transit is free city-wide all day!

Kingston Markets

Kingston is home to two great markets; the Kingston Public Market and the Memorial Centre Farmers Market. The Kingston Public Market, located in Springer Market Square along King Street, operates Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, April through to November. The Memorial Centre Farmers Market, located at the Memorial Centre at 303 York Street, is open Sundays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. from May through to October.

Music in the Gardens

Music in the Gardens is a Sunday concert series at the Lions Civic Gardens, on Gardiners Road (free parking is available at the Cataraqui Town Centre parking lot). Bring your lawn chair and enjoy the free concert on Sunday, August 3 from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.  For more information on Music in the Gardens visit www.cityofkingston.ca

Wishing you a safe, fun and happy weekend.
