Message From the Mayor: Enjoy the long weekend

August 28, 2014 -

Monday, September 1 is the Labour Day holiday and, while many families are busy getting their kids ready for school and post-secondary students move into the city, I want to wish all Kingstonians a safe and enjoyable long weekend with family and friends.

Labour Day will create some schedule changes to City services and municipal office hours. This includes a change to Kingston Transit, which will run on a Sunday schedule on Monday. Garbage, green bin and recycling collection will not be collected on Monday, but will move to the day after your normal pick-up day next week. For a detailed list of services and offices affected by the holiday, please visit the City of Kingston website at www.cityofkingston.ca

City parks, splash pads and the outdoor aquatic park at the Memorial Centre will be open holiday Monday for families to enjoy. Plan a picnic at a City park, go for a walk on your favorite trail, or cool off at one of City's splash pads. However you choose to spend your Labour Day holiday, I hope you take advantage of all that our great city has to offer!

Mark Gerretsen,
Mayor
