More options to vote: advanced voting and Internet voting open this weekend

October 10, 2018 –

Vote in the municipal election online starting 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 13.  Saturday is also Advance Voting Day and you can cast your ballot in person at Advanced Voting places.

"We are pleased to offer multiple voting options for this election. Our aim is to make casting a ballot as convenient as possible. Using one of these options will mitigate long lines on Voting Day," says Janet Jaynes, assistant returning officer.

Voters are reminded that this year's municipal election ballot will include a Yes/No question about whether they are in favour of using a Ranked Ballot Voting system starting with the 2022 municipal election.  Learn about Ranked Ballot Voting at www.CityofKingston.ca/RankedVoting.

Municipal electors can cast ballots using one of these three options:

Internet voting:

The City's Internet voting system will accept your vote until 8 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 22. Find it at www.CityofKingston.ca/Vote. This  option is available to voters who received a Voter Information Notice (VIN) and have registered online by 7 p.m. on Voting Day, Monday, Oct. 22. Internet voting instructions appear on the VIN. Didn't receive a VIN? Contact the Elections Office at elections@cityofkingston.ca or 613-546-4291, ext. 1430.

Vote in-person at your Advance Voting place from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 13.

Your Advance Voting place is on your VIN.  Bring it with you to vote along with acceptable identification – such as a driver's licence or photo health card.

Vote in-person at any of your voting places from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Voting Day, Monday, Oct. 22.

Your voting places are on your VIN. Bring it with you to vote along with acceptable identification – such as a driver's licence or photo health card.

Didn't receive a VIN? You can still vote at the Advance or Voting Day polls with acceptable identification.
