Nearly 20,000 people make Kingston their new home this weekend
August 28, 2018 -
This weekend Kingston welcomes nearly 20,000 people as post-secondary classes get set to resume.
"Whether you've been in Kingston all your life or you're new to the city, it's a pleasure to welcome you as you begin a new school year," says Mayor Bryan Paterson. "You're an important part of the community and add vibrancy to our culture! Welcome to Kingston!"
"City of Kingston staff from parking enforcement, Kingston Transit, general bylaw, public works and traffic have been meeting with our partners at Queen's University this summer and there are several new initiatives in our approach this year," says Ian Semple, director, transportation services. "However, the area in and around the University is going to be very busy on Saturday, Sept. 1 and local travellers should choose an alternate route to their destination if possible."
