New campaign highlights AccessAbility Week and promotes inclusion in Kingston
May 28, 2018 -
May 28 to June 2 is National AccessAbility Week and the City of Kingston in partnership with the Municipal Accessibility Advisory Committee (MAAC) are raising awareness with a new "I can….in Kingston because…." campaign – featuring members of the community enjoying improved access and commenting on how to eliminate barriers.
"The City and MAAC members wanted to show how efforts to improve accessibility make a real difference in how people are able to use and enjoy the city. Creating a more inclusive community is what accessibility is all about," says Julie Salter-Keane, community projects manager.
She notes that the City has also updated its Multi-Year Accessibility Plan 2018-2022. It includes strategies which will help make the City more accessible to all its residents and visitors by ensuring the accessibility standards under the AODA are fully implemented by 2025.
