null New campaign highlights AccessAbility Week and promotes inclusion in Kingston

May 28, 2018 -

May 28 to June 2 is National AccessAbility Week and the City of Kingston in partnership with the Municipal Accessibility Advisory Committee (MAAC) are raising awareness with a new "I can….in Kingston because…." campaign – featuring members of the community enjoying improved access and commenting on how to eliminate barriers.

"The City and MAAC members wanted to show how efforts to improve accessibility make a real difference in how people are able to use and enjoy the city.  Creating a more inclusive community is what accessibility is all about," says Julie Salter-Keane, community projects manager.

She notes that the City has also updated its Multi-Year Accessibility Plan 2018-2022. It includes strategies which will help make the City more accessible to all its residents and visitors by ensuring the accessibility standards under the AODA are fully implemented by 2025. See it at
