New intersection pedestrian signals activated today - Sir John A. Macdonald Blvd & Johnson St

August 27, 2019 -

In order to prioritize pedestrian safety, walking-to-school trips and active travel connectivity, two new intersection pedestrian signals were activated today at:

  • Sir John A. Macdonald Boulevard at Norman Rogers Drive
  • Johnson Street at Macdonnell Street (school guard crossing)

Installation of pedestrian signals at the school crossings will provide a safer crossing for children walking to/from school and provide a protected pedestrian crossing for all users when the school crossing guard is not present.

Contractors will remain in the area of Sir John A. Macdonald Boulevard at Norman Rogers Drive to complete curb work and asphalt restoration. Prior to the completion of this work, temporary orange barrels will be placed on Sir John A Macdonald Boulevard such that vehicles entering from Brock Street will be forced to slow down and merge well in advance of the new pedestrian signal.
