New software to streamline Council and Committee workflow

A new workflow software system will streamline the work associated with City Council and its standing committees.
Starting in early 2014, the Clerk's Department will begin work to implement, SIRE, a legislative software solution that will help the City of Kingston automate several legislative processes, such as circulating and reviewing reports, producing agendas, posting documents to the City's website, and the reporting of Council/ committee decisions.
"The SIRE solution will help the Corporation to streamline current manual practices, reduce paper consumption and increase efficiencies." says John Bolognone, City Clerk. "This solution will help us to manage some of the Corporation's most important records, the decisions of City Council."
SIRE, by Hyland Software Incorporated, will be used to create a document workflow system for all reports for Council and its Standing committees. Once implemented the system will automate the current report consultation process, and will be used by all departments across the Corporation. The Clerk's Department aim to have a test pilot launched in Spring 2014, with one of the standing committees of Council.
The City of Kingston is committed to improving and streamlining corporate systems and processes to improve the flow of information and to eliminate duplication and manual processes.
