No parking on streets overnight starting Dec. 1
November 28, 2016 -
Starting Thursday, Dec. 1, parking is prohibited on all City streets from 1 a.m. to 7 a.m. -- and from 12 a.m. to 7 a.m. on the streets that surround Kingston General Hospital. The overnight winter parking bylaw ensures that vehicles are kept off the streets so that snow plows can effectively respond to winter weather events.
"The Winter Parking Bylaw is in place to keep streets clear to allow for effective snowplowing and other overnight winter control efforts. It helps keep roads safe," says Brandi Timpson, supervisor, enforcement.
Vehicle-owners who contravene the bylaw will receive a fine of up to $30 and vehicles found in contravention of the bylaw are subject to a tow.
The parking prohibition remains in place until the end of March, 2017.
