Notice of Intention - Declare surplus and dispose of municipal property - 3R-21418

June 4, 2019 -

Pursuant to the City's Public Notice Policy and the Disposition of Real Property Policy take notice that the Council of the Corporation of the City of Kingston intends to declare surplus and dispose of the following municipal property:

Lands affected: An unopened road allowance designated as Part 4 on Reference Plan P-3036-158, registered in the Land Registry Office as 3R-21418 in the City of Kingston, County of Frontenac.

Explanatory note: The Ontario Ministry of Transportation (MTO) sold the lands to the former Township of Kingston in 1976 for $200; it is an unopened extension of McIvor Road. The MTO requires the lands now as part of a new interchange it will be constructing for Highway #401 and Highway #38. The City of Kingston has no need to extend McIvor Road on these lands; therefore the City may agree to exchange these lands for some other land.  The City of Kingston Engineering Department has identified lands for such an exchange to the City from the MTO required to create a future cul-de-sac at the dead end of Harpell Road; a widening along the full length of Harpell Road; and, more land at the intersection of Harpell Road and Highway #38 to improve the intersection alignment. The MTO will pay for all survey, legal and appraisal costs associated with this land exchange.

City Council will consider a motion to declare the property surplus on June 18 at 7:00 pm at its regular meeting to be held in the Council Chambers, City Hall, Kingston.

Anyone wishing to be heard regarding these matters should contact the Clerk's Office or provide written comments before 4:30 pm, June 14 2019.

In the event that the matter is deferred, no further public notice will be given.

Dated at City of Kingston
this 4th day of June, 2019

John Bolognone, city clerk
City of Kingston
