Notice of Intention - Permanently close, declare surplus and dispose of municipal property - Bluenose Street

June 4, 2019 -

Pursuant to the City's Public Notice Policy and the Disposition of Real Property Policy take notice that the Council of the Corporation of the City of Kingston intends to permanently close, declare surplus and dispose of the following municipal property:

Lands affected: Bluenose Street, Plan 13M34 Pittsburgh, Pin 36262-0654 and Block 87 Plan 13M34 Pittsburgh, Pin 36262-0649. Shown on the map below with blue hatching and labeled 1.

Explanatory note: This property was retained by the City at the time that the subdivision was created in September 2001 for future use as a road allowance. Initially intended to connect to adjacent lands to be developed to the south by future development, Bluenose Street is no longer required following subdivision design changes and planning approvals for the adjacent lands. The property was dedicated as a public highway. A by-law to permanently close the unopened road allowance is required before the City can declare it surplus and deed it back to the original landowner. The City will retain the easterly portion of the lot for a future walkway. Additionally, the site triangles will be transferred to the adjacent landowners at 37 and 43 Schooner Drive. The lot is approximately 783 square meters with frontage on Schooner Drive.

City Council will consider a motion to declare the property surplus on June 18, 2019 at 7:00 pm at its regular meeting to be held in the Council Chambers, City Hall, Kingston.

Anyone wishing to be heard regarding these matters should contact the Clerk's Office or provide written comments before 4:30 pm, June 14, 2019.

In the event that the matter is deferred, no further public notice will be given.

Dated at City of Kingston
this 4th day of June, 2019

John Bolognone, City Clerk
City of Kingston
